Mobius Final Fantasy
Mobius Final Fantasy is a role-playing game designed for mobile phones. The player controls the game’s protagonist Warrior of Light (Wol) while navigating Palamecia. Players can customize settings, graphical quality, and adjust controls for their dominant hand. During local navigation on the field map, the player taps a location on a map and the character travels to that location. In some self-contained areas, the player can directly control the character. Along with standard navigation, the player can navigate the game world using a fast-travel system, progressively unlocked as the player progresses through the story. Many of the features in the game, such as the leveling system and exploration, are similar to those from previous home console Final Fantasy games. Mobius features a tactics-focused, turn-based battle system, with players able to activate attacks by tapping enemies on screen. Players can use standard melee attacks with close-range weapons such as swords, and magical attacks. During combat the player accumulates Elements, which are necessary to activate Abilities, the game’s form of summoned monsters. When ready for activation, a tile appears on-screen that the player touches to activate the Ability. Abilities have different attributes: the Shiva Ability unleashes an ice attack, while the Fat Chocobo Ability raises defense for eight turns while automatically healing the player. Elements can also be used by the player to strengthen their resistance to elemental attacks. If an enemy’s weakness is struck enough times, their “break gauge” meter will be drained and they will be left weakened, allowing the player to attack freely. The player starts off with the Onion Knight job. Each job can be leveled up using special “seed” items collected in battle to fill in a skill panel. Once the panel is complete, the job will evolve, such as the Onion Knight evolving into the pure Warrior class. As jobs change or evolve, the character’s appearance will be altered to a degree. In the Chapter Two content update, Samurai, Assassin, and Red Mage jobs were added.

“This world is not your home, For you hail from elsewhere. All you have ever known is war. All your memories have vanished. You’ve drifted without them to the land of Palamecia. There are many outsiders here like you. With your past erased from memory, they have begun to call you The Blank. Though you have lost your past, you may still hold the future. In Palamecia, there is a prophecy: “When despair enshrouds the world, a Warrior of Light shall appear.” This world is under siege by the evil armies of Chaos. In accordance with the prophecy, a hero with no past will arise to save the world.Among the blankers, there is one, perhaps even you, Who will emerge as the legendary Warrior of Light. Fight for the future, Blank, and bring hope to Palamecia.”
Wol – A foreigner from an unknown planet that drifted his way into Palamecia. He lost his memories and doesn’t remember how he arrived in Palamecia. Detached from reality, he fights on to continue living.
Sarah Cornelia – A princess and a Cornelia family descendant of the Palamecian Kingdom. Fitting to her stature as a princess, she’s neat and tidy, but occasionally shows a cuter side. She’s been waiting for the Warrior of Light told by prophecies.
Mog – Mog is from one of Palamecia’s races, known as moogles. Mog feels something special after meeting the protagonist, and decides to act as his guide. Moogles are a special being that have the ability to cooperate using their senses and memories.
Echo – A fairy that aids Wol in his journey.
Garland – A Palamecian knight.
Meia – A princess from the Kingdom of Zahn. A Warrior of Light chosen by the crystal.
As you play, a meter slowly fills near the top of the screen. This rewards you with Magicite, the in-game currency. You can collect around 150 Magicite in a 24-hour period, if you’re paying attention and empty the gauge whenever it fills.
A LOT OF THE ITEMS ARE SIMPLY TIMESAVERS
Magicite lets you buy a variety of tempting items in the in-game shop. A lot of the items are simply timesavers. Spend your precious currency on whatever will spare you the most grief. The Bronze, Silver, and Gold Opener items certainly qualify, since you can use them in lieu of seedstones to quickly improve your job skills.
If you’re just starting your Mobius Final Fantasy adventure, the Silver and Gold levels may be tempting, but they have no immediate value. It makes more sense to purchase the Bronze Opener items, then use them once you are working through the third tier of a given job discipline. By that point, acquiring sufficient seedstones the old-fashioned way takes too much time.
Other potential investments, like Gil and Mystic Tablet items, come along often enough during the course of regular play (or as rewards for clearing daily objectives) that spending virtual currency on them is a waste.
